Oktoberfest isn’t just the world’s biggest beer festival -  it’s a full-blown celebration of Bavarian culture, tradition, and gemütlichkeit (a German word for good cheer and togetherness). Each fall, millions of people gather to raise a stein, sing along to oompah bands, feast on pretzels and sausages, and soak up the festive vibes under the massive beer tents of Munich… and all around the world.

📍 Munich Oktoberfest 2025: Save the Dates

🗓 September 20 – October 5, 2025

This year, the celebration begins on Saturday, September 20 and runs until Sunday, October 5. That’s 16 glorious days of beer, bratwurst, brass bands, and dancing on benches. It all kicks off with the Mayor of Munich tapping the first keg and declaring "O’zapft is!" (“It’s tapped!”) - and from there, the party begins.

🏰 A Royal History

Oktoberfest began in 1810 as a royal wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese -  and it was such a hit, Munich decided to repeat it every year. Today, it's a globally recognized tradition.

⛺ Beer Tents & Bavarian Feasts

Each tent is run by a local Munich brewery, pouring signature lagers (especially Märzen, a smooth amber beer brewed just for the fest) and serving up mountains of pretzels, sausages, roast chicken, and sauerkraut -  all with a side of live music and foot-stomping fun.

👗 Traditional Style

Lederhosen and dirndls are the unofficial dress code. It’s not required, but if you want the full experience, suit up - and don’t forget the feathered hat!
